You might need solo therapy if…

Here at the Marriage Recovery Center, our primary mission is to bring struggling couples closer together and teach them the necessary tools to promote long-term happiness through mutual, compassionate support.

This good work can only be possible when each partner is genuinely able to feel what they’re feeling, to communicate these emotions effectively to others, and then to make healthy choices that support their utmost well-being. For only when we are healthy can we help our relationships to thrive.

But for many of us, especially when we find ourselves in a struggling relationship, the first thing we forget to do is care for ourselves. We become so disintegrated that we somehow come to believe that our happiness is dependent on our partner’s words and actions, or that our personal success is based on the success of our relationship. To this end, we sometimes overlook our own moral compass, belief system, and even our respect for our partner—virtually guaranteeing that we will continue to struggle and feel disconnected from those we love most and, even more importantly, from ourselves.

Here are some telltale signs that this might be you:

  1. You think you know what your partner is thinking.
  2. You think you know what’s best for your partner.
  3. You think that your partner is somehow responsible for your happiness or the reason for your frustration.
  4. Your predominant emotion is anxiety.
  5. You are dealing with a host of health issues that all came on during your relationship.
  6. Your constant worry that your partner is cheating on you gets in the way of you living your life.
  7. You don’t know how to share your feelings with your partner without starting a fight.

If you resonate with any of these, you may have a few emotional blind-spots that are getting in the way of you having what you want most.

We’re here to help.

This is what we at Marriage Recovery Center are here for—to help you explore and overcome your limitations with the help of objective, highly-experienced counsel. Call 206.219.0145 today to schedule an introductory session, so that we can get you grounded, centered, and able to communicate in a way that not only makes you proud, but that brings others closer to you.
